Nieszczęsna mowa zależna przyprawiła już o ból głowy niejednego maturzystę (i nie tylko). Nie taki jednak diabeł straszny. Dziś spróbujemy podać Wam najważniejsze zasady w możliwie zwięzły sposób.

Mowy zależnej używamy, relacjonując daną wypowiedź bez cytowania jej. Musimy wówczas zmienić użyty w niej czas. Na przykład, jeśli oryginalna wypowiedź była w czasie teraźniejszym, to relacjonujemy ją w czasie przeszłym:
He said: „I am hungry”.
He said he was hungry.

Oto jak zmieniają się poszczególne czasy:

Present Simple → Past Simple

Present Continuous → Past Continuous

Present Perfect → Past Perfect

Present Perfect Continuous → Past Perfect Continuous

Past Simple → Past Perfect

Past Continuous → Past Perfect Continuous

Simple Future → Future in the Past (would + bezokolicznik)

Pozostałe zmiany:

now→then

today→that day

tonight→that night

yesterday→the day before, the previous day

tomorrow→the following day, the next day

this week (month, year)→that week

last week (month, year)→the week before, the previous week

next week (month, year)→the following week, the week after

ago→before

here→there
