Stopniowanie przymiotników i przysłówków w angielskim: Zasady i wyjątki
Kiedy dodać „-er” a kiedy „more”? Kiedy „-est” a kiedy „most”?
→ She is tall. / He runs fast.
Stopień wyższy (comparative): Porównanie dwóch rzeczy lub osób
→ She is taller than me. / He runs faster than John.
→ She is the tallest in the class. / He runs the fastest.
Dwie metody tworzenia stopnia wyższego i najwyższego

|---|---|---|
| tall | taller | the tallest |
| fast | faster | the fastest |
| cheap | cheaper | the cheapest |
| young | younger | the youngest |
| happy | happier | the happiest |
| easy | easier | the easiest |
| simple | simpler | the simplest |
| clever | cleverer | the cleverest |
Metoda 2: More / Most (długie przymiotniki)
Stosujemy dla przymiotników dwusylabowych (większości) i wielosylabowych:
| Stopień równy | Wyższy | Najwyższy |
|---|---|---|
| beautiful | more beautiful | the most beautiful |
| interesting | more interesting | the most interesting |
| expensive | more expensive | the most expensive |
| difficult | more difficult | the most difficult |
| important | more important | the most important |
Zasada kciuka:
- 1 sylaba → -er / -est
- 2 sylaby kończące się na -y → -ier / -iest
- 2+ sylaby (inne) → more / most
- 3+ sylaby → zawsze more / most
|---|---|---|
| good | better | the best |
| bad | worse | the worst |
| far | further/farther | the furthest/farthest |
| little | less | the least |
| much/many | more | the most |
| old | older/elder | the oldest/eldest |
Przykłady:
- This is better than I expected. (nie „more good”)
- That was the worst movie I’ve ever seen. (nie „most bad”)
- She has less time than him. (nie „littler”)
- We need more help.
- large → larger / the largest
- nice → nicer / the nicest
- happy → happier / the happiest
- dirty → dirtier / the dirtiest
Jednosylabowy z krótką samogłoską + spółgłoska: Podwój spółgłoskę
- big → bigger / the biggest
- hot → hotter / the hottest
- thin → thinner / the thinnest
Używanie stopnia wyższego – praktyczne wzory
Than (niż)
Porównanie dwóch rzeczy:
- She is taller than her sister.
- This hotel is more expensive than the other one.
- My phone is worse than yours.
Nie myl „than” (niż) z „then” (wtedy/potem)!
❌ She is taller then me.
✅ She is taller than me.
As…as (tak samo… jak)
Gdy coś jest równe:
- He is as tall as his father. (tak samo wysoki)
- This is as expensive as that one. (tak samo drogi)
Gdy coś jest mniejsze:
- She is not as fast as him. (nie tak szybka)
- This isn’t as good as the previous version.
